Day 4: Finishing the Library & An Outreach Event

Today was a full day of ministry. Our team split up to cover two different ministry areas. Bianca and Nevin went back to the school with the students from Nairobi Chapel to finish the library (CLICK HERE to read about our first day setting up the library). Cody and I went with the young adult ministry from Chapel to do a youth outreach.

I am happy to report that the library is complete. It looks amazing! A room that had one or two bookshelves now has shelves that go all the way around the outside wall and has four shelves in the middle. The school administrators and children had huge smiles on their faces.

Cody and I were a part of an outreach at a facility run by a ministry called Mission of Hope. Mission of Hope impacts 16,000 children in informal settlements throughout Kenya. At this particular outreach, there were about 750 teenagers. Nairobi Chapel is in the process of planting a church near the location of the outreach.

I was blown away how a group that large was attentive and engaged throughout the day that we spent together. The topic covered today was sex (that could have something to do with the attentiveness). Cody and I sat on a panel with pastors and young adults from Nairobi Chapel to answer the student's questions. There was also a radio station that chapel partners with who had a DJ and hype man they brought. The students loved the music and dancing. We joined the hype man on stage with the other young adults for a thirty-minute dance session. I can honestly say that I have never danced like that before. We also were a part of a drama and lead a small group (35) of students.

It was another great day. Thank you so much for your prayers. Keep Praying!
