Day 1: Logos Scholarship & Visiting the Mutonyi's

Today was our first full day in Kenya. A majority of our day was spent at the church with the Logos Scholarship program. This program provides education to those in need. It really goes far beyond education to care about every part of the student and also builds into the parents. The students who are a part of the program gather at the church during their school breaks (3 times a year). During the break times, they meet with their mentors who build into them by helping to lay out a pathway to success. There are currently 476 students in the program. Nairobi Chapel has set a goal of having over 1,000 students in the program by 2020. It was amazing to hear stories of students whose lives were changed through this ministry and stories of how God has blessed the Logos Scholarship since it started 10 years ago.

In the evening we went to the Mutonyi family's house for dinner. I know the Mutonyi's through a friend of mine, Alex (their nephew/cousin) who attends Bridgeway. I had met some of the family as they have visited Alex recently. We enjoyed the evening of wonderful conversation and a lot of great food.
