God's Presence in the Life of Your Child

There is no better time than Christmas to talk about the presence of God in your child’s everyday life. Immanuel means, God is with us. That is just as true everyday of your child’s life as was back on that day that Christ was born in Bethlehem.

Every Child who has a personal relationship with Christ has God present in their life (click here to read about introducing your child to Christ). Below are three ways that God is with your child everyday.

God is NEAR your child. The Bible in John 15 describes Jesus as our friend. In Proverbs 18 it talks about a true friend sticking closer than a brother. It is important that our children understand that Jesus isn’t in their lives to keep anything from happening to them. Instead he is there to walk with them through all that they go through, like a close sibling. To help your child understand this, have them pray, simply talking to God like he is in the room with them, because he is.

God is IN your child. At the moment of salvation those that accept Christ in their life receive the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit resides in your child to guide, convict and teach them. This can be a hard concept for a child, or anyone to understand. But if you set an example letting your kids see God guide you, they will grab ahold of the concept quickly because of their child like faith.

God wants to work THROUGH your child. God can use your child to impact the lives of others. Encourage your child to allow God to use them by pointing out opportunities for them to serve others. If they are not serving somewhere in BridgeKids what a great place to serve and see God work through them. If you have ever seen the BridgeKids creative arts teams perform on stage you realize the power God has to work through children to impact the hearts of adults.
