A Delicate Balance

This summer on my sabbatical I am trying to strike a delicate balance between wanting to make the most of the time, yet needing to relax. So here are a few things I am doing to make sure I relax.

  • Staying multiple days in most locations. This will allow nice breaks from traveling and opportunities to relax.
  • Leaving whole days unplanned. This will hopefully lead to sleeping in and resting.
  • Bringing a hammock. I am hoping to take a good hammock nap everywhere we stop.
  • Letting Amie Drive some of the time. This should allow me time to read, write, and rest.
  • Set a reading goal. To accomplish this I will need to take time along to relax while I read.
  • Taking some solo time. A chance to spend some time by myself.
  • Left time after my trip with no schedule or agenda. I'm not sure what I am going to do. I think that's a good thing.
  • Spending time in the mountains and at the Beach. There is something about nature that refuels me.
Those are some of my ideas to help me relax, while my natural desire would be to maximize the time by seeing as much as possible.

Do you have any suggestions? I would love to hear them. Please share in the comments below.
