Walls Down

Over the weekend I had a chance to enjoy a concert with my family. We went to the Walls Down Tour featuring B. Reith, Manic Drive, and Royal Tailor. My kids are B Reith fans and huge Royal Tailor fans. So they were super excited to go to the concert. Ok, Amie & I were pretty excited too. Here are a few of the reasons why it made a great family outing.

1. It was something that we all enjoyed and could do TOGETHER. There are so many different activities that each of us are involved in that it was good to do something fun that was for all of us.

2. I loved the diversity. The bands reflected diversity in their musicians and their musical styles. I wish there were more groups like these in Christian music. It was great to run into a diverse group of people from my church. It is rare for a concert to draw that kind of diversity.

3. I loved the message of the show. Walls Down. I have been to many concerts where the name of the tour is just a name of one of the songs. But at this show Walls Down seemed to be a theme that was reflected through out. Royal Tailor closed out the concert with the song: Fight for Freedom. Here are some of the lyrics.

Every wall that separates us has gotta come down
The walls that separate us have gotta come down

Judgement and hatred, religion and politics
Preferences and prejudice, these walls are coming down, down
