Investing In Your Kids (Part 1)

Today I was on A field trip with my youngest son and realized that the parents that were there as chaperones were making an investment in the lives of there kids. They were giving up work, perhaps pay or free time, energy, money and more to spend time with their kids. The pay off from this investment is time with their kids in their kids world. For so much of our life our kids live in our world, however on a field trip you walk into your kids world. You step into their daily experience with their teachers and friends and the normal life that they live all day every week day for a whole school year.

You get to meet and learn about their friends and about how your kids relationships function. You get to spend more time with your kids teacher and you get to observe them with the kids. Unlike a parent teacher conference you get to see them in action working with their students. The glimpse into you kids world that you get through a field trip is priceless. If you haven't taken a day and gone on a field trip with your kids recently, why not? My son loved having me there with him, I am hoping this is true for a least a few more years.
