Kenya Update: Overwhelmed! In A Good Way. Pt. 2

Saturday, October 1, 2016- Afternoon
Me with Pastor Oscar

After an incredible adventure on safari, where God showed off his creation, we traveled to the Nairobi Chapel offices to meet with Pastor Oscar Muriu. Pastor Oscar is the visionary leaders and senior pastor of Nairobi Chapel. Pastor Oscar spent the afternoon with us teaching us what a partnerships between churches from different cultures, on different continents means.

The model of partnership is based on a passage found in 1 Corinthians 12, that talks about the body of Christ. In this passage each region of the world plays a part to make the body function. The different "body parts" compliment and help each other. Sound familiar Bridgeway people? #Gracism

1. Partnerships are about interdependence.
2. Partnerships are about reciprocity.
3. Partnerships are about humility.

As I walked away from this meeting there were a few things that impacted me greatly.
1. I was humbled by the fact that such an amazing leader would spend so much time with us, building into us and and teaching us.
2. I was encouraged and filled with hope by seeing this vision of how missions can be done better through this kind of church partnerships.
3. I was challenged to examine our unique role in missions and how we would fit in partnerships with churches around the world (this examination is still in progress).

There is so much more that Pastor Oscar taught us, and that I am still processing. I am so grateful for this amazing day and the chance to learn from this amazing church and amazing leader.

More adventures and learning tomorrow!
