Kenya Update: Korogocho & the Tumaini Clinic

Today we visited Korogocho, an informal settlement in Nairobi. Korogocho is another location where Nairobi Chapel is doing amazing work. Nairobi Chapel has established and is running the Tumaini Health Clinic in the middle of Korogocho. The health clinic offers great care to the residents of Korogocho at an affordable rate.

One of the main reasons the Tumaini Clinic was founded was to address the high rates of child and mother deaths during child birth. Since the establishment of the clinic child birth deaths have gone down by 80%. 

The health clinic is there for other health needs in the community as well. It also functions as a safe house when people in the community are in need of refuge. On Sunday morning the children of the community gather at the clinic for a Sunday School. What an amazing ministry!

Harriet, who gave us the tour, currently oversees the clinic as well as other outreaches to informal settlements for Nairobi Chapel.
